French giants Paris Saint-Germain will be without a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks in their upcoming Champions League showdown with Barcelona.

The player in question? Marquinhos.

PSG and Barcelona are of course set to lock horns on the continent next week.

In their respective 2nd fixtures of the new European campaign, the French and Spanish champions will do battle in Catalunya’s capital.

The fixture marks something of a dream one for fans across the globe, droves of whom were hopeful of seeing these two sides face off in last season’s Champions League final.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts to get the better of his former employers in Spain, PSG boss Luis Enrique will be forced to make do without a crucial member of his backline.

As confirmed by the capital heavyweights on Friday, Marquinhos has picked up a ‘left quadriceps injury’, which is expected to keep the Brazilian sidelined for several weeks.
