After missing Germany’s 2-0 win over Luxembourg on Friday due to injury, Joshua Kimmich and Nico Schlotterbeck could return to action against Slovakia on Monday.
Both players were included when the German Football Association announced the squad numbers for the game early on Monday. Karim Adeyemi, who missed Friday’s match due to suspension, is also back in the squad.
Schlotterbeck took part in Germany’s final training session on Sunday, while Kimmich trained individually after injuring his ankle in training last week.
Although Kimmich was not training with his teammates, Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann didn't rule out the possibility of the Bayern star featuring on Monday.
“We’ll decide tomorrow (Monday) whether he can play. But I’m optimistic that he can. It’s more about pain and comfort, but anyone who knows Joshua knows that he doesn’t like saying no to a match,” Nagelsmann said at the pre-match press conference on Sunday evening.
