FC Köln’s Geißblog reports that Köln striker Sargis Adamyan has nixed a move to VfL Osnabrück. The site claims that Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler organized a €400,000 sale of the 32-year-old. Osnabrück were also apparently accommodating with respect to Adamyan’s salary demands. In the end however, Adamyan’s move to the 3. Liga could not be realized. The newly promoted Bundesliga outfit must seek a new solution.
Adamyan is one of three Kölner strikers demoted to the reserve squad whilst the cathedral city club attempted to get them off the payroll. Club management were able to commemorate a success yesterday with Steffen Tigges’ sale to Paderborn. Adamyan’s move was expected to be confirmed shortly afterwards, leaving Florian Dietz as the lone remaining forward working with the U21s.
Adamyan’s sale was always going to prove problematic as the former Armenian international draws a reported €100,000 monthly salary. Köln were able to get him off the books via a short loan stint to fellow 2. Bundesliga outfit SSV Jahn Regensburg last season, where he scored his 21st and 22nd 2. Bundesliga goals. Adamyan has scored a total of 10 German top flight goals for Köln and Hoffenheim.
Köln may still be able to find takers for both Dietz and Adamyan. Dietz also scored two goals whilst on loan during the second half of last season. In the 27-year-old’s case, the first half of the current 2025 calendar year was spent at SCR Altach in the Austrian Bundesliga. Dietz also has a little German Bundesliga experience, scoring one goal for die Geißböcke in 16 top flight appearances.
