According to BuLi News, BVB coach Niko Kovač said before kick-off that Ramy Bensebaini and Serhou Guirassy were rested for the Klassiker because they have been fasting.
The pair were named among the substitutes for Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga meeting with Bayern Munich, prompting questions over their absence from the starting line-up.

Kovač explained that both players have been fasting for two weeks and that Dortmund have already played four games during that spell.
In their place, he has selected Schlotterbeck and Silva to start.
They could yet make an impact from the bench against Bayern Munich.
