Kylian Mbappé’s Real Madrid Struggles: Stat Highlights Difficult Start After PSG Exit

Kylian Mbappé’s start at Real Madrid hasn’t been as smooth as expected. While the former Paris Saint-Germain star scored five goals in his first five LaLiga matches, only two came from open play, with the other three coming from penalties.

Adding to the buzz, Mbappé won’t be featuring for France during the upcoming FIFA international break, sparking some controversy back home. Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid, expected to elevate the team to dominance in LaLiga and the Champions League, has fallen short of expectations so far.

Although Mbappé has scored seven goals in 11 games across all competitions, his overall influence on the team’s play has been lacking. There’s been little chemistry between him and fellow attackers Rodrygo Goes and Vinícius Jr., which has hampered the effectiveness of Real Madrid’s front three.

They’ve managed only 14 goals, far below what was expected given the hype around Mbappé’s arrival and the continuity of attackers who played vital roles in last season’s LaLiga and Champions League victories. The numbers suggest Mbappé’s signing has been a disappointment up to this point.

Fichajes highlighted an intriguing stat that puts things in perspective: Real Madrid’s attacking trio ranks fourth in Europe, tied with Stuttgart and Chelsea, who also have 14 goals.

That starkly contrasts Barcelona’s trio of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal, who scored 23, Bayern Munich’s front three with 17, and Liverpool’s with 15. This gap is worrying for those who expected Real Madrid to dominate.

Moreover, after the Frenchman’s poor performance in the win over Villarreal, many Real Madrid supporters spoke to El Chiringuito to roast the former PSG standout for his recent form.
