Kylian Mbappé’s start at Real Madrid has been anything but smooth since his free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Frenchman’s challenges in the Spanish capital seem to be mounting.
The 25-year-old endured a difficult El Clásico debut on October 26, with Real Madrid suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu. Just days later, the struggles continued as Los Blancos fell 3-1 to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
On Wednesday, Mbappé had a chance to shine against Liverpool, especially in the absence of Vinicius Junior, which allowed him to play in his preferred role. Instead, the match turned into a nightmare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Mbappé not only failed to find the net but also missed a crucial second-half penalty, summing up a frustrating evening. Following the defeat, former French footballer Emmanuel Petit shared his thoughts on the forward’s ongoing struggles.
“He’s been waiting for years to make the move to Real Madrid,” Petit said on After Foot RMC. “But, you know, there’s also karma. I believe in that kind of thing—spiritual stuff. I’m a big believer in karma. When you keep doing things that irritate people, eventually, they all start turning against you. And then, somehow, everyone ends up wanting the same thing: to see you fail.”
Eventually, the argument about adaptation will no longer hold, and people will start asking if Mbappé’s dream transfer could turn into a nightmare.
