Alex Remiro has become quite a popular figure in Barcelona circles lately, as the goalkeeper has been strongly linked with a move to Camp Nou.

As the club look for an ideal backup for Joan Garcia next season, Remiro has emerged as one of the key targets, with the goalkeeper reportedly ready to play second fiddle.

In the midst of these rumours, Remiro, currently on international duty with Spain, offered his thoughts on a potential move to Barcelona as well as Joan Garcia in a recent interview.

The Real Sociedad goalkeeper acknowledged that he has seen the recent reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Despite admitting his current focus on Real Sociedad, the goalkeeper offered a rather cheeky response when asked about a move to Barça.

“I’ve heard a bit about it on social media, but right now I’m completely focused on Real Sociedad. We have a Copa final and we are very focused and excited to win it. Barça? You never know,” he said (h/t SPORT).

Remiro went on to talk about Joan Garcia, who has finally earned his maiden call-up with the Spanish national team.

Garcia’s entry has effectively pitted four great Spanish goalkeepers, including himself, Remiro, David Raya and Unai Simon, against each other, with only three to be selected for the World Cup.

“He sees himself at the World Cup and I see myself there too. If I don’t make it, I’m not going to punish myself because I’m doing everything I can to go. Whatever happens, Spain will have three great goalkeepers,” Remiro said.

Finally, Remiro acknowledged Garcia recently comparing his reflexes to a cat and in return, he, too, compared the Barcelona goalkeeper to a panther.

“If he says I’m a cat, then he must be a panther or something even better — it’s incredible. I’m happy to train with him, to learn, to take the good things from his game.

“It’s a pleasure to train with him because he’s very good under the posts, with his feet, he’s a leader,” he concluded.
