According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, LaLiga will stage its first Jornada Retro from 10-13 April, aligned with matchday 31 of LaLiga EA Sports and 35 of LaLiga Hypermotion, as 38 clubs wear kits inspired by iconic moments. The collection was unveiled at Madrid’s Palacio de Fernán Núñez.

The presentation formed part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, organised by Ifema Madrid with support from the Ayuntamiento de Madrid. It tapped into blokecore, treating football shirts as fashion, a trend boosted by a viral TikTok from Brandon Huntley.

LaLiga frames the programme as more than aesthetics, aiming to turn legacy into lived experience and connect generations. It sits within the campaign ‘42 legados, 42 formas de ganar’, with designs reimagining historic looks using modern materials.

For the runway, Barça showed its 125th anniversary shirt, inspired by the 1899 original, though it is expected to keep this season’s kit in matchday 31 against Espanyol. Other nods include Atlético de Madrid’s early blue and white and Real Sociedad’s Atotxa tribute, while Valencia revives its early 90s orange.

In LaLiga Hypermotion, Sporting bring back an all-red 80s change strip with fine vertical lines and a gold-stitched crest, while Las Palmas offers a club-wide homage across eras. Racing reworks 1996/97, and Almería recalls the 2001 fusion that created the current club.

Puma and LaLiga have produced a late-90s-style ball, and the referee uniform is reworked from USA 1994, with retro branding across broadcasts and platforms.
