Lamine Yamal has confirmed he plans to sign a new contract with Barcelona as soon as possible.
The teenage superstar has entered the final 18 months of his current contract, which he signed in October 2023 and was capped at three years by Spanish law because of his age.
When he inked that deal, however, the broad terms of an agreement over another extension were reached with agent Jorge Mendes, with Barcelona believed to be planning a new four-year contract to keep Yamal at the club until 2030. However, given the new contract has not been signed yet, some fans have begun to fear a potential departure - not least because of Paris Saint-Germain's attempt to sign him for €250m during the summer.
Putting those fears to bed in no uncertain terms, Yamal told CNN: "I don't know when [the contract will be signed], but I believe it will be soon.
"At the end of the day, Barca is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and to be with them for as long as possible.
"I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barca, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will."
Mendes has also given his assurance of a new contract, recently insisting his client will soon commit himself to Camp Nou.
