Berlin's Madame Tussauds has unveiled a Lamine Yamal waxwork before the World Cup. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he is unshakeably focused.

He has repeatedly cast Spain as favourites and spoken of going for that second star, echoing the composure he showed at 16 in Germany before winning the Euro.

On 17 July 1994, as Roberto Baggio's penalty sailed over Pasadena, a call from Iñigo Liceranzu kept Luis de la Fuente in football, a path that now sees him leading Europe's champions 32 years on.

At 18, Yamal is billed as Messi's heir and could face him in the round of 32. France and Portugal are among the favourites, with Messi and Luka Modric still around. The expanded tournament ends on 19 July at MetLife Stadium.

Spain travel with issues, Yamal and Nico Williams nursing knocks, Rodri regaining sharpness and Mikel Merino newly back. Aymeric Laporte partners Pau Cubarsí, with Mikel Oyarzabal preferred to Álvaro Morata. A blaugrana core remains, there are no Real Madrid players, and Pedri with Fabián Ruiz conduct.

Hazards abound, from Morocco, Japan and Norway to Senegal's power and the Netherlands' knowhow, while England and Germany look adrift. Carlo Ancelotti is trying to steady a chaotic Brazil. Over 38 days, debutants Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan, Tahiti and Uzbekistan will chase moments, and if all unfolds as Yamal imagines, Donald Trump will hand the trophy to Rodri.
