Barcelona president Joan Laporta has delivered an assertive message about the club’s future by publicly backing head coach Hansi Flick ahead of the upcoming presidential elections.
The relationship between Laporta and Flick has been positive from the very beginning.
Both men have openly acknowledged the strong understanding they share, although some critics have questioned whether Flick’s public comments come at a sensitive time, with elections approaching.
Even so, the German has never hidden his happiness at the club.
Speaking recently about his experience in Barcelona, according to AS, Flick expressed his deep satisfaction with his working environment and his desire for stability.
“It’s a pleasure to work here. We have a fantastic president, staff, players, and fans, and this is a phenomenal moment.
“I am very happy here and I want to stay for many years. It was a dream for me to coach Barça.“
Laporta did not let those words pass without a response.
Taking the coach’s statement as a clear sign of commitment, the Barcelona president went a step further by making a promise that directly links Flick’s future to his own.

“If I become president again, he will be coach for as long as he wants. He knows the club very well and will have more experience.
“He didn’t want more years, but he is the ideal coach for Barça at this time and thanks to him we are enjoying a very sweet moment.”
The praise did not stop there. Laporta also highlighted Flick’s personal qualities, stressing that his impact goes beyond tactics and matchdays.
Speaking about the decision to appoint him, the president underlined why the club felt confident from day one.
Explaining that choice, Laporta said,
“For us, it was important to have someone with his experience and knowledge, but if he is phenomenal as a coach, he is even more so as a person.
“On the day he signed, we knew we were doing something important, because he was a coach through and through and knew how to lead a group, a group of very young players alongside others with more experience,” he added.
