Ever since his ascension from the Las Palmas youth academy, Alberto Moleiro has established himself as one of the most exciting midfield prospects in La Liga.

At the age of just 21, Moleiro has racked up 124 competitive appearances for Las Palmas, emerging as a key component in the club’s midfield unit.

As the youngster continues his rapid progress, Moleiro’s future has been a topic of discussion, with many expecting him to soon make the jump to a bigger club.

Moleiro wants to play for Barcelona

In a recent interview, however, Alberto Moleiro has openly expressed his desire to play for none other than Barcelona.

Speaking to Mas Que Pelotas, Moleiro admitted that he is happy at Las Palmas, but added that he would want to play for a club like Barça later in his career.

“I am very happy now and I am not thinking about leaving, but I hope to be at a big club like Barça in the future,” Moleiro said.

Will Moleiro be a good fit for Barcelona?

Moleiro’s statement comes roughly a couple of weeks before Barcelona take on Las Palmas later this month.

From a pure tactical perspective, Moleiro could be an interesting addition to the Barcelona midfield, as he has proven to be an excellent orchestrator in the middle of the park.

However, it must be noted that Barcelona have a stacked midfield, with talented players such as Pablo Torre struggling to find regular game-time.

In fact, even Frenkie de Jong has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter under Hansi Flick. With Marc Bernal returning from injury next season, one would imagine Moleiro could struggle to gain prominence in the Barcelona midfield.
