Lazio will be without Adam Marusic when they resume their Europa League campaign on Thursday.
The Montenegrin was in the starting lineup on Sunday when the Biancocelesti earned a valuable 2-1 victory over AC Milan. He also played an integral part in Mattia Zaccagni’s opener. However, he was forced to vacate his spot on the pitch in favor of Manuel Lazzari at the interval after sustaining a knock due to a challenge from Theo Hernandez.
After the match, Lazio coach Marco Baroni revealed it was only a bruise. Nevertheless, Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) expects him to remain on the sidelines for four or five days. Hence, Marusic will skip the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16 against Viktoria Plzen which will take place in the Czech Republic this Thursday.

In addition to the midweek European contest, the Montenegrin veteran is also doubtful for next Monday’s Serie A contest against Udinese. In the meantime, Lazzari is the only natural choice to fill in at right-back, as Elseid Hysaj is also out with an injury.
On a related note, Alessio Romagnoli is also doubtful for the clash against Viktoria Plzen, reveals the Roman newspaper. The Italian defender suffered muscle fatigue during last week’s Coppa Italia defeat to Inter Milan. He tried to make a swift recovery and make himself available against his former employers Milan, but failed to pass an athletic test.
