After hanging up his boots, the former striker remained at Lazio, coaching the club’s youth ranks.

Lotito then appointed him as a caretaker manager at the helm of the first team after sacking Stefano Pioli in April 2016.

The Biancocelesti then reached an agreement with renowned Argentine tactician Marcelo Bielsa. However, the two parties shockingly terminated their contract after a couple of days, so Inzaghi was confirmed as head coach.

The Piacenza native then guided the club for the next five years before eventually signing for Inter in 2021.

During his time at Formello, Inzaghi won a Coppa Italia trophy and two Italian Super Cups.

And since it all started with a twist of fate, Lotito labeled Inzaghi as a fortunate individual. The Lazio president even claims the Nerazzurri manager is lucky at card games.

“I like playing cards. For me, it’s a way to relax, I play scopa and briscola,” revealed the longtime Lazio patron in a long interview with DAZN via FcInterNews.

“In the world of football, almost everyone is good at playing cards. For instance, Inzaghi played well, but above all, he was very lucky.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito Insits Simone Inzaghi Is A Lucky Person

“It’s a fact recognized by everyone: he is a lucky person, which is a positive asset in life. As Napoleon said: ‘Better a lucky general than a good one’.

“Therefore, being lucky is an added value.”

After his stint in the capital, Inzaghi moved to Inter in the summer of 2021. He replaced Antonio Conte who chose to leave the club after guiding the Nerazzurri towards their first Serie A title in 11 years.

Therefore, Inzaghi had large shoes to fill and even struggled to convince in his two campaigns. Nevertheless, eventually won over the vast majority of the supporters and pundits alike.

The former Lazio striker guided the Beneamata towards a memorable Champions League final in the 2022/23 campaign.

And in the following season, he led his troops to a historic achievement by unlocking the club’s second golden star.

The Nerazzurri achieved this feat by leaving their title rivals in the dust. They mathematically clinched the title by beating their crosstown rivals AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on April 22nd.
