Lazio have reportedly shifted their focus towards Juventus wantaway Arthur Melo as their chances of signing Carlos Alcaraz are slowly fading.

The Biancocelesti are still in the market for a midfielder to shore up the department. They have been heavily linked to Lazio exile Michael Folorunsho, but have yet to find an agreement with Aurelio De Laurentiis over the formula.

Over the past few weeks, the Italian capital side has been closely monitoring Alcaraz who is on his way out of Southampton. The 21-year-old is an Argentinian midfielder who can feature in various roles. He spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan at Juventus, but without finding much success.

But as the report explains, the Viola were repelled by the hefty wages of the former Barcelona and Liverpool man who earns circa €6 million per year. This figure certainly exceeds Lazio’s financial parameters, which will be a major obstacle in the path of a potential move to Rome.
