New Hartlepool United head coach Lee Clark has not ruled out seeking loan help from Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United as he rebuilds his squad.

“We'll see, we'll see. With loan players, it's imperative that you get them spot on, it's imperative that they come and influence the club in a positive way. Obviously, we've got three big clubs in the area, and in the past, they've all been very good to me when I've been a manager or a head coach in terms of players.” He told the Hartlepool Mail.

“So we'll look at that, and we'll see if we need any help in the loan market. In an ideal world, you want to have your own players, but sometimes to help you along the way, getting good quality younger players from the bigger clubs can always help.”

Clark was appointed last week as first-team head coach at The Vic, working with new head of recruitment Chris Beech on reshaping a very small squad.

Pools remain in contract talks with Luke Charman, Campbell Darcy and Jack Hunter. Kian Foreman, Max Kouogun, Jamie Miley and Nathan Sheron are under contract for next season, with options activated on Jay Benn, Josh Donaldson and Reiss McNally.
