Leeds United will honour legendary forward Mick Jones with a Lifetime Achievement Award at half-time on Saturday night when Brentford visit Elland Road in the Premier League, and have asked supporters to remain seated.

The club said in a statement that Jones will also become the first former player to receive a Heritage Cap, with the presentation taking place on the pitch alongside his family.

A cornerstone of Don Revie’s side, Jones struck the winner in the 1968 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final, the club’s first major European honour. He helped deliver league titles in 1968/69 and 1973/74, finishing as Leeds’ top scorer in both campaigns.

His honours also include the Charity Shield in 1969, a second Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1971 and the 1972 FA Cup, when he set up Allan Clarke’s decisive goal. Between 1967 and 1975 he made 312 appearances for Leeds, scoring 111 times, and earned three England caps.

The recognition forms part of Marching on Forever, the former players association established in late 2025 to celebrate club history and connect generations, with Tony Dorigo leading its formation.
