Daniel Farke believes the sky is the limit for Tarik Muharemovic after the defender’s Leeds United bow in a 1-0 pre-season win over Sunderland in New Jersey.
Muharemovic, a £34million arrival from Sassuolo earlier this month, started in a back three with Joe Rodon and Sebastiaan Bornauw and looked the pick of the players until a late substitution. Farke said in a video on X that the 23-year-old’s calmness, reading of the game and interceptions underlined a class display.
It came amid his first taste of English football and a first outing with new team-mates, requiring adaptation to a different intensity and age group. Despite only roughly a year at the top level, the young centre-back’s potential was evident.
Fellow summer signing Harry Wilson also started, his first start under Farke after coming on at half-time in last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Wrexham. He showed flashes of technical quality, hinting at what may follow when the season begins next month.
Wilson has many Premier League appearances, strong recent end product in goals and assists, and experience in the UK, qualities that underline his value in attack.
