Daniel Farke has outlined what Julian Nagelsmann can expect from Anton Stach after the Leeds United midfielder was called up by Germany for the March internationals. He will face Switzerland and Ghana.

Nagelsmann had recently questioned Stach’s fit for his plans, telling Kicker that while he is doing well he is not notably strong in the air or a top ball-winner, prefers the game in front of him, and looked best centrally in a back three at Hoffenheim.

Farke said the selection is merited. “I think it’s well deserved,” he said, pointing to Stach’s consistency in the Premier League, strong data and how quickly he adapted to the intensity in the UK.

He praised the midfielder’s all-round work, from ball recoveries and duels to goals, assists and sparking Leeds’ attacking play, and stressed his versatility. “He’s a key player,” Farke added.

Looking ahead to the camp, Farke said Stach has the chance to impress and show what he is capable of. “Julian will get a top class guy who will travel with confidence. I hope he can grab this chance with both hands, fingers crossed for him.”
