A big lift for one of Leeds United’s relegation rivals has triggered a change for the Whites in the bookies’ latest predicted final Premier League table.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds’ 3-1 home win over Burnley on Friday put them nine points clear of the drop. That left them nine clear of third-bottom Tottenham, seven ahead of fourth-bottom West Ham and four above fifth-bottom Nottingham Forest, with all three holding a game in hand.
West Ham then lost 3-0 at Brentford on Saturday, leaving them seven behind Leeds with three games remaining. Defeat for the Hammers at home to Arsenal on Sunday would make Leeds mathematically safe, and given West Ham’s goal difference even a draw would realistically be enough.
Crystal Palace’s defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday also saw them drop below Leeds on goal difference. Tottenham won 2-1 at Aston Villa to move out of the bottom three, while Forest won 3-1 at Chelsea to sit just one point behind Leeds. Spurs are now one point ahead of West Ham and six behind Leeds, whom they host on Monday night.
After Forest’s victory in particular, bookmakers revised their relegation prices and adjusted the predicted final table, prompting a Leeds change. The latest rundown has Arsenal as title favourites at 2-7 ahead of Manchester City at 7-2, with Manchester United third, Liverpool fourth with top-five odds of 1-100, Aston Villa fifth at 1-25 for a top-five finish and Brighton sixth, up from seventh, at 13-8 for a top-six finish.
