Charlie Crew could leave Elland Road on a loan deal before the deadline next month.
Doncaster Rovers are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Leeds United midfielder Charlie Crew.
That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who believe the League Two outfit are set to receive a further boost, having beaten Hull City in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Crew, 18, made his senior debut back in November against Plymouth Argyle, enjoying a cameo at Elland Road in what was a fairly comfortable day for the Whites.
He has also made the bench on numerous occasions this season, with Daniel Farke's side enduring issues in their midfield department.
Not only did they lose Ethan Ampadu to injury issues, but Ilia Gruev also sustained a serious setback, though both players are back in action now.
Josuha Guilavogui also joined as a free agent option, so Crew has struggled to secure a place in the matchday squad in recent weeks.
Leeds need a strong, experienced squad in their quest to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the second time of asking, so it's no surprise that youngster Crew hasn't been that heavily involved.
But he could win plenty of senior football during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
Doncaster are now closing in on a loan deal for Crew.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, he could travel to the fourth-tier outfit in the coming days to complete a medical and put pen to paper on a temporary agreement that will keep him at the Eco-Power Stadium for the remainder of the campaign.
He wasn't involved against Harrogate Town at the weekend and with this in mind, as well as the fact there are plenty of other options ahead of him in the pecking order, a loan exit looks inevitable for the 18-year-old.
Crew should benefit from this loan because it will allow him to secure more senior football under his belt and at 18, that is a wonderful opportunity.
The chance to play senior football may also accelerate his development and allow him to reach his potential faster.
This move should also benefit Doncaster because some fans may have been hoping to see Matthew Craig return and would have been disappointed to have seen their club not secure an agreement.
Crew, however, could even be an upgrade in this area, considering how promising he is.
And Leeds should benefit from this loan, considering Crew may have a chance to play senior football regularly and develop well in the process.
