Leeds United have made moves to sign Tromso centre-back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh this summer, with the 19-year-old added to their shortlist, Rudy Galetti reports.
With Premier League status secured, Leeds are preparing a pivotal window, and defensive cover is high on the agenda. A back-up for Gabriel Gudmundsson at left-back is expected to be targeted.
Pascal Struijk enters the final year of his deal and his future will be a major talking point. Regardless, after switching to a back-three under Daniel Farke last season, Leeds need further depth at centre-half.
FC Koln are also pushing for Kinteh. The Bundesliga side had a £4.3m offer rejected in May and are ready to increase it to £5.2m, the report added, though it is unclear if that will be enough for Tromso. Leeds must act quickly if they want him.
Tromso signed Kinteh from Senegal’s Mawadi Wade Academy in March 2025 through a partnership between the clubs. He went on to make 21 Eliteserien appearances in his debut campaign.
In February, the Daily Mail reported that Chelsea and Manchester United are tracking the Gambia international. Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli also made a strong attempt to land him earlier this year.
Left-footed centre-backs are highly sought after, and Kinteh routinely plays on the left of a back three. His athleticism and range of short and long passing stand out, and he would be an ideal addition for Leeds.
