Vardy will go into the summer as a free agent, but Leeds have been told to steer well clear
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Once the celebrations die down from their title-winning Championship campaign, Leeds United and manager Daniel Farke will start to focus on which players will join the West Yorkshire outfit on their newest Premier League journey.
The Whites' partying has been much-publicised, and you'd expect many of the current United squad to stick around at Elland Road for the ride - but there will need to be external strengthening after seeing what happened to Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town after being promoted 12 months ago.
As ever, Leeds will be linked with a ton of players in the weeks and months to follow, and their name is already spinning on the rumour mill - including the speculation of a former England international arriving at Elland Road in the form of Jamie Vardy
According to a report from TEAMtalk last week, Leeds are one of the Premier League clubs for next season that are admirers of Vardy, and they could make a move for the 38-year-old on a free transfer after he confirmed his imminent exit from Leicester City.
That however is not something that would sit well with one of FLW's Leeds fan pundits Joe Blackburn, who does not think that Vardy is good enough to figure for United at the stage he is at in his career.
"Without a doubt and with as much respect as possible to Jamie Vardy, Leeds United going to sign him in the summer would be an absolutely laughable move," Joe told FLW.
"It's one of those moves that gets made by a completely new chairman or a new manager who wants to take a fresh approach and sign someone that's a big name.
"But in reality, Vardy is on the wrong end of 30, hasn't done tons at Leicester this season, and for a side that wants to go up and stay up, seeing a number nine that has gone up and failed to stay up and saying 'Yeah, we'll sign that guy' is absolutely not the right move to make.
"I think there may be a good shout for someone like a Liam Delap, but he's on the right side of 30 years old, whereas I think Vardy doesn't have that much to give, and there's a world in which he goes to a Wrexham or something, and makes a one-season appearance where he manages to rock it for them and keep them in the Championship.
"But not at Premier League level - I think looking elsewhere has to be the next move."
Could you imagine Vardy leading the line for Leeds next season with his general antics, being egged on by a raucous United fanbase?
That would indeed be a sight to behold, but with Leeds needing to really strengthen their hand for 2025-26, signing a player who may have only one year left in football - who would also probably command a big contract - wouldn't be the way to about things.
