Leeds United’s Premier League relegation picture has shifted after Eddie Howe left Newcastle United following seven years in charge, with bookmakers moving prices for the new season that also affect Newcastle and Sunderland.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Howe, 48, had led the Magpies since November 2021 and was expected to stay despite a disappointing 2025-26 in which they finished just two points above newly-promoted Leeds.

Newcastle ended last season 12th, two points and two places ahead of Leeds, who posted a solid 14th on their top-flight return. Howe’s exit is already prompting notable changes in general relegation markets, including a big Sunderland call.

The latest general prices indicate the heavyweights are long shots for the drop: Arsenal 1000-1, Liverpool 750-1, and Manchester United 500-1.

Chelsea are 125-1, Aston Villa 66-1, and Tottenham Hotspur 50-1 in relegation betting, reflecting a projected top-six order based on those odds.
