Trent Alexander-Arnold was the match-winner on his return to Liverpool action as the Reds condemned Leicester to the Championship by winning 1-0 at the King Power.
Plenty was poised to be decided in the East Midlands on Sunday afternoon, and Liverpool came ever so close to opening the scoring just three minutes in. Mohamed Salah received possession in behind Leicester's defence and was destined to find the back of the net, but his effort instead hit both posts and stayed out.
The Foxes may well have been subject to a beating had Salah converted early, but they instead rallied in the opening exchanges and hit the woodwork themselves via Wilfred Ndidi. After Salah was denied by a strong Mads Hermansen save in the aftermath of Leicester's best chance of the opening period, the hosts proved stubborn enough to limit the champions-elect.
The Reds were able to sustain pressure at the end of the first half and were particularly efficient at progressing the ball in wide areas, but the two sides went into the break all-square at 0-0.
Chances arrived more frequently for Arne Slot's side at the start of the second half, but a combination of Hermansen and some poor Liverpool finishing ensured the deadlock wasn't broken until the returning Trent Alexander-Arnold entered the fray. The first left-footed goal of the returning right-back's career proved to be the match-winner 15 minutes from time as the Reds took another step towards the league title.
They're just one win away.
