Leicester City and the Premier League have both appealed an independent commission verdict over the club’s 23-24 PSR breach.

The Premier League said in a statement that Leicester have challenged the decision, which imposed a six-point deduction after an EFL Profit and Sustainability Rules breach. It added that it would also appeal, arguing the sanction is too lenient.

Commission files state the league had sought a 12-point starting deduction, with aggravating factors potentially taking the penalty beyond 20 points.

City could argue there should be no points deduction at all. They may contend the EFL do not have jurisdiction to dock points on the Premier League’s behalf, with rules rewritten after the charged period.

The case now goes to an appeal board, with a fresh decision expected before the Championship season concludes.
