Leicester City have begun the hunt for a new manager after Martí Cifuentes left, their second change of the season. The Spaniard departed with City 14th in the Championship following a 2-1 home defeat to Oxford United.
SportsCasting Bets lists Russell Martin as the early favourite to replace him, with Robbie Keane close behind.
Owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha held talks with Cifuentes on Sunday, after which the club set the search in motion. He took charge in July 2025 and has left with immediate effect. The club thanked him for his professionalism and dedication during his spell.
The Oxford loss proved the tipping point, with sections of the home crowd calling for Cifuentes to be sacked.
In his final press conference he said the situation was unpleasant but accepted that football is about results. He acknowledged that some supporters are unhappy and said a manager must be accountable and responsible.
