Leicester City have opted to part company with manager Amandine Miquel just 10 days before the start of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes this afternoon.

The 41-year-old Frenchwoman was appointed Leicester City manager last summer. She helped The Foxes to record a tenth-place finish in last season’s Barclays Women’s Super League, along with their highest-ever top flight points tally. Miquel guided Leicester City to their best-ever Barclays Women’s Super League season despite the absence of several key players due to injury at various points in the campaign.

Miquel has been busy preparing the team for the upcoming season, however, Leicester City have opted for a managerial change just days before the start of the campaign. In addition to Miquel’s departure, assistant Amaury Messuwe has also left the club.

Today’s news comes as no surprise with rumours of Miquel’s sacking having initially surfaced earlier this week. Former Liverpool boss Matt Beard is thought to be the favourite to fill Leicester City’s managerial vacancy after he recently resigned from his role at third tier Burnley.

Leicester City kick-off the new Barclays Women’s Super League season with a fixture at Manchester United on Sunday 7 September 2025.
