Leicester City have reportedly sacked Amandine Miquel just 11 days before the WSL kicks off
Leicester City have reportedly made the decision to sack manager Amandine Miquel just 11 days before the season gets underway.
Miquel was in charge of the Foxes for just one year before the club made the decision.
Leicester have stagnated in the WSL during the last three seasons but Amandine Miquel’s reported dismissal comes as a slight surprise.
Miquel was hired by Leicester at the beginning of last season but she failed to improve the club’s position.
The Foxes have finished 10th in the WSL in each of the last three campaigns.
With the season just 11 days away from kicking off, Leicester City are likely to start their year without a manager in charge.
While Miquel struggled to make much of a difference for the Foxes in 2024/25, their 20 points was an improvement on the previous season’s tally of 18.
Miquel managed French side Reims for seven years before moving to England on a three year contract with the WSL team.
It is unknown where Miquel will manage next season, but the French boss could be in line for a return to her home country after just one year in England.
Leicester are yet to comment on the manager’s dismissal.
It isn’t just their manager that Leicester have lost ahead of the new campaign.
The Foxes have lost seven players since the end of last season and signed just three new stars.
With the WSL expanding to 14 teams from 2026/27, just one team will face relegation next season. The team that finishes bottom of the top-flight will play a playoff against third in WSL2 for a right to play in the WSL.
The Foxes then travel to Manchester for their season opener against United on Sunday, September 7th.
