As a Leicester City supporter, I was particularly pleased to see the Foxes players show some heart. It was also a pleasant surprise for LCFC manager Ruud van Nistelrooy to be braver with his system and starting lineup selection. However, ultimately the City team was defeated again in their quest to avoid Premier League relegation. And the King Power club's primary problem persisted at Stamford Bridge as they tackled the Blues.
This is our match report as Leicester were sunk in west London, while their men went down courageously with the ship.
Regrettably, Leicester didn't come away with anything from the Bridge. Although City showed minimal impact as an attacking unit, they were not steamrolled by the Blues. Many people, including this writer, expected LCFC to be beaten by a two goal margin or more. Yet that wasn't to be.
Obviously former Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has many injuries to contend with in his capacity as CFC gaffer. There are four or five main Chelsea attackers unavailable at present. So they are not the force they were going forward at earlier stage of the season.
Nevertheless, unpopular and unreliable Chels goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was not exploited or even tested enough by the visitors. After seemingly claiming his No.1 spot back for a while, the Spaniard only faced three City shots.
Van Nistelrooy, a thrilling and deadly striker in his day, must find an innovative way of getting Leicester firing at least a goal or two. That gives us a small but fighting chance. Can he find the solution to the goalscoring puzzle? Unlocking creativity is vital.
Meanwhile the Dutchman was intrepid in changing the formation as I see it. He's certainly fearless or foolish to continue snubbing Facundo Buonanotte.
