Leila Pereira has confirmed Palmeiras’ interest in Botafogo midfielder Danilo, a Brazil World Cup call-up also on Flamengo’s radar.
"Obviously I would like Danilo to come back home. Many clubs want Danilo. I have a special affection for him, he is one of ours. I am extremely happy he is representing Brazil with the national team," she told ESPN.
"I feel Palmeiras are being represented by him, Endrick and Weverton. Our squad is closed. But if there are some special players the staff think are worth it, we are there."
Botafogo have set an asking price of 40 million euros, R$ 231.2 million at current rates, and believe his value could rise with the World Cup.
Flamengo approached the player’s representatives a few weeks ago and received the green light to open talks with Danilo. Palmeiras have indicated they intend to match any Flamengo offer.
Danilo has been Botafogo’s standout in 2026, with 21 appearances, nine goals and two assists. He is the club’s top scorer this year, even while playing as a second midfielder.
Flamengo face Palmeiras at the Maracanã on Saturday 23 at 21:00 Brasília time in the 17th round of the Brasileirão.
