Manchester United’s early season form has been reminiscent of last campaign’s horror shows with the Red Devils losing three out of their first four games in all competitions.

And just like the 2023/24 campaign, the new season has also been marred by countless injuries to key personnel like Rasmus Hojlund, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and new signing Leny Yoro.

The fanbase was ecstatic when INEOS pulled off the deal to sign the former Lille sensation, especially as Real Madrid were frontrunners for his signature.

His pre-season debut impressed one and all with the team playing a higher line thanks to the 18-year-old’s pace while his passing was also appreciated.

Yoro injury

What was most impressive was that he did so after only one training session with the club. However, a metatarsal injury in the following game put paid to his hopes of building on that encouraging debut.

He was forced to undergo surgery and that has meant the France U23 international is unlikely to be back before December, forcing Erik ten Hag to start Harry Maguire for the opening two games of the league season.

Yoro was introduced to the Old Trafford faithful before the Premier League opener against Fulham and was spotted walking in crutches.

The Manchester Evening News have some good news regarding his rehabilitation as the French star no longer needs support while walking and is preparing to return to action by working with United physios in the gym at Carrington.

“The 18-year-old underwent surgery at the beginning of August to address the problem and November was earmarked for his return.

Rehab going as per plan

“Yoro was unveiled to Old Trafford before the Fulham game and was using crutches but his recovery is progressing and they are no longer needed.

“That represents a positive step in his return to action and Yoro has been in the gym at Carrington as he works with United’s physio team to prepare him to return to full fitness.”

United have used this injury lay-off to try and help the youngster adapt to his new home, a ploy Sir Alex Ferguson often used during his time as manager.

United have leaked goals in Yoro’s absence and Ten Hag will hope the centre-back can get fit soon and help his new team finish the season strongly.
