Léo Pereira reveals chat with Filipe Luís after Brazil call-up | OneFootball

Brazil are preparing to face Croatia on Tuesday in a friendly, with Léo Pereira hoping for another chance after starting against France.

"On the day of the call-up, since we live in the same condominium, I made a point of meeting him in person. I am very grateful. He told me Carlo Ancelotti had already asked about me," said Léo Pereira, speaking to TNT Sports.

This is the Flamengo defender’s first involvement with the national team. He made his debut in Brazil’s 2-1 defeat to France in a warm-up before the 2026 World Cup.

Despite the loss, head coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the centre-back, saying he liked Pereira’s contribution in possession against France.

Flamengo dismissed coach Filipe Luís in early March. He has not taken a new role since, has meetings planned in the coming weeks, and wants a chance in European football.

Brazil meet Croatia in Orlando, United States, at 21:00 Brasília time on Tuesday. Léo Pereira and Danilo, both Flamengo defenders, are hoping for further minutes.
