Leon Bailey has completed a loan switch from Aston Villa to Serie A side Roma.
The Jamaican winger finalised the move after passing a medical in Italy on Tuesday, with the transfer officially announced this morning.
Villa are set to pocket around £1.7 million in loan fees, while Roma hold an option to buy the 27-year-old permanently for roughly £19 million. The Italian club will also cover his wages in full, easing the pressure on Villa’s salary bill.
Bailey has been at Villa Park since his £25m move from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2021, racking up 144 appearances and 22 goals in claret and blue.
His departure is the latest in a busy few days for Villa’s outgoings, following Jacob Ramsey’s £39m switch to Newcastle and Leander Dendoncker’s free transfer to Real Oviedo.
