Pedro has been first choice up front under Leonardo Jardim at Flamengo, and the coach is working to bolster his confidence. GE reports that on taking charge Jardim went directly to Pedro, setting out that the striker would be central to his plans.

Since Jardim’s arrival, Pedro has started consistently and delivered in recent outings. He opened the scoring in the 2-0 win over Cruzeiro, then sealed the 3-0 victory against Botafogo, and finally set up Lucas Paquetá in the 1-1 draw with Corinthians.

Beyond reassurance, Jardim asked Pedro to make some sacrifices for the good of the team. He also discussed tweaks to his playing model and the roles he expects the centre forward to perform.

With domestic action paused for the FIFA window, Jardim will use the break to refine what he wants from Pedro. The focus is on sharpening the number nine’s contribution within his structure.
