Erik ten Hag’s Bayer Leverkusen are ‘investigating a possible deal’ to sign an Arsenal and Leeds United attacking target this summer.
The Gunners are in the market to strengthen in the final third after they failed to win the Premier League or the Champions League and a host of strikers have been linked, including Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
Other attackers are also on the radar though and Arsenal have joined Leeds in showing an interest in Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao.
Leeds are expected to be busy this summer and, as well as Arsenal and French sides, they now have competition from Leverkusen.
Ten Hag is now at the helm at the BayArena and the club will back him, not least with big money coming in from selling Florian Wirtz to Liverpool.
Now, according to Dutch magazine Voetbal International, Leverkusen are ‘investigating a possible deal’ with Feyenoord for Paixao.
Feyenoord are aware that they may find it difficult to keep hold of the Brazilian this summer.
The forward has caught the eye with his performances in Dutch football and won the title under Arne Slot.
He admitted last summer that people were constantly asking him if he would be joining Slot at Liverpool.
Paixao could end up being spoiled for choice as to where to go in the transfer window as he considers the next best step in his career.
Leverkusen will be in the Champions League next season after they finished as runners-up in the Bundesliga, behind Bayern Munich, this season.
They lost Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid and turned to former Manchester United boss Ten Hag to succeed him.
