The 20-year-old has continued to impress since cementing a regular starting spot in Eddie Howe's side, having been involved in all nine of the club's Premier League fixtures this season.

Following a challenging period that concluded with back-to-back clashes against his former club Chelsea, the full-back admits that it has been a month of mixed emotions but believes that Carabao Cup progression can be the key to achieving "something special" this season.

"There’s a lot that goes on mentally when facing a former club: you've got a lot of love for certain people but you also feel that you've got a little bit of a point to prove," commented Hall.

"It was nice to be involved in both games. It would be nicer if we had both results to go with it but Wednesday night was an important win.

"This is a big competition for us. I feel that it's a trophy we can win and that's definitely the aim."

Collecting his second Sela Player of the Month award of the year, the boyhood Magpies fan attributed his recent form to the supporters, who took their chance to show appreciation for the youngster by chanting his name during the midweek victory at St. James' Park.

"That's a moment that you can't really explain as a player," he said. "At the end of the day, there are so many people here who love Newcastle: the city and the club. Obviously with my family background as well, I know how much it means to them. To hear anyone singing my name at St. James' Park means a lot to me.

"I don't think that I necessarily started too well at the club, but the fans stuck by me and this season in particular I've had a lot more to offer. It's taken a couple of games to find my rhythm and flow, but now I feel a lot more confident so hopefully I can show more of what I can bring to the team and help us to achieve big things."

Voting for the Sela Player of the Month currently takes place after every match in the club's post-match email.
