The Owls have been in administration since October, and are awaiting ratification from the EFL before the American takes over from previous owner Dejphon Chansiri.

The Yorkshire outfit have endured a difficult last 12 months both on and off the pitch, and Henrik Pedersen’s side have already officially suffered the drop from the Championship as a result.

The Dane has overseen just one win since taking charge of the first team squad in the summer, and the club have yet to earn victory at Hillsborough all season.

The team have also been deducted a total of 18 points by the EFL, leaving them on minus six points ahead of the return to league action this Easter weekend.

But fans will be hoping that a new era under Storch’s group, Arise Capital, will bring positive results back to the team next season.

One player that Sheffield Wednesday will be keen to keep at Hillsborough for life in League One will be Liam Palmer.

The 34-year-old signed a new two-year deal in 2024, which is now set to expire, leading to some uncertainty over his future with the club.

However, it has been reported by The Star that the Owls have a 12-month extension clause in the club captain’s deal.

It’s believed that Palmer is keen to remain at Hillsborough, as he looks to end his playing career there.

Palmer has continued to be an important presence under Pedersen, and the Scotland international has made 38 appearances from 39 fixtures this season, including 35 starts.

The situation is the same for Svante Ingelsson, with Sheffield Wednesday set to trigger a 12-month extension clause as part of his current contract.

The Swede has been a standout talent for the team this year, featuring 37 times in the Championship in midfield.

Ingelsson was the subject of January transfer speculation, and Sheffield Wednesday are keen to ensure he is with the club going into League One next season, although future transfer interest is also expected.

The Owls are currently bottom of the Championship table, with minus six points due to being docked 18 by the EFL.

Next up for Pedersen’s side is a trip to face Stoke City on Friday afternoon in a 3pm kick-off.

Liam Palmer and Svante Ingelsson clauses are great for Sheffield Wednesday

While Palmer is likely committed to Sheffield Wednesday even without this extension clause, the option to keep Ingelsson could prove very important.

It won’t prevent clubs from showing interest in him in the summer, but the club now have the choice to potentially cash in on him or hold out to see what he can do in League One.

Losing the midfielder as a free agent would’ve been a real blow both financially and competitively, so this is a really big boost for Pedersen and the squad.

And now the sooner this takeover can be completed, the sooner Sheffield Wednesday can make some real progress towards building a side that’s ready for League One.
