Barcelona moved to the brink of retaining their Liga F title with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Real Madrid, just days after thrashing their rivals 6-2 in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
Meanwhile, third-placed Real Sociedad dropped a couple of points in their pursuit of European qualification, offering hope to Costa Adeje Tenerife in fourth spot.
Here’s everything you need to know from Liga F match-day 24.
Barcelona backed up their 6-2 triumph over Real Madrid in the UWCL with another dominant display in Sunday’s Clásico. Ona Batlle opened the scoring in the 18th minute, seeing her effort from distance deflect past Misa Rodríguez. Two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas then made it 2-0 in the early stages of the second period. The Barcelona star swept the ball home from Caroline Graham Hansen’s cutback to net her ninth Liga F goal of the season. Just moments later, Maëlle Lakrar inadvertently diverted the ball into her own net in what proved to be the final goal of the season.
As a result of the impressive win, Barça have moved 13 points clear at the top of the Liga F table. If Real Madrid drops points against Madrid CFF on Sunday, Barcelona will clinch the title with a win over Badalona on Monday.
Third-placed Real Sociedad dropped two points in their home meeting with relegation-threatened DUX Logroño. La Real took a narrow lead into the half-time interval following Rebeca’s unfortunate own goal. That moment looked set to decide the contest until Mia Asenjo rescued a point for her side with an 86th-minute equaliser. After bringing down a lofted pass, the 23-year-old showed great strength to hold off her marker before calmly slotting past Julia Arrula.
Costa Adeje Tenerife took advantage of Real Sociedad’s slip-up, as they saw off Madrid CFF to close the gap to the top three to six points. Natalia Ramos scored both goals in the 2-0 success inside the opening 25 minutes. First, the 27-year-old collected a pass just inside the box before firing a low shot beyond Paola Ulloa. For her second effort, Ramos picked up the ball on the left side of the box and moved inside to place a composed finish past the Madrid CFF goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid battled to a narrow victory over Athletic Club despite playing around 55 minutes with 10 players. Natalia Peñalvo fired Atleti in front midway through the first half, before Rosa Otermín was dismissed for two bookable offences. Athletic quickly made use of the numerical advantage to level the scoreline through Nerea Nevado. However, the hosts were caught off guard by Atleti’s fast start to the second period. Luany played an inch-perfect pass in behind for Fiamma to coolly lift her shot over the onrushing Adriana Nanclares. The visitors ultimately held on to their slender advantage to leave San Mamés with all three points.
After netting five goals on match-day 23, Badalona produced another free-scoring display in Saturday’s home meeting with Alhama. María Llompart required just 10 minutes to open the scoring, driving a low shot past Soledad Belotto with the aid of a deflection. Estefanía Banini doubled the lead after the hour mark, curling home an unstoppable strike after being teed up by Irina Uribe’s clever backheel.
Less than 10 minutes later, Vega Berasategui reduced the deficit with a fierce strike from the edge of the box, only for Itziar Pinillos to swiftly restore Badalona’s two-goal cushion with her third goal in two games. There was still time left for Patricia Zapata to grab Alhama’s second goal of the match, but the 92nd-minute effort ultimately arrived too late for the visitors. As a result of the defeat, Alhama remain second from bottom with six games left to play.
Deportivo La Coruña came from behind to record a 2-1 victory over Eibar at the weekend. Esperanza Pizarro produced an intelligent finish to cancel out Iara Lacosta’s opener. The Uruguay international got across her marker at the near post and conjured up a deft flick to steer the ball home from Lucía Rivas’s low cross. The first half looked set to end all square until Olaya Rodríguez capitalised on a poor pass from the goalkeeper to fire Depor in front. The effort ultimately proved enough to seal all three points for the hosts.
Elsewhere, Levante’s difficult season continued with a narrow defeat against Espanyol. Naima García scored the game’s only goal direct from a corner in the closing stages of the first period. The left-footed inswinging delivery evaded everyone at the near post before it nestled in the net. Espanyol celebrated a second win in two games, while Levante remain rooted to the bottom of the table following a sixth consecutive defeat.
Granada left it late to snatch all three points from Saturday’s away clash against Sevilla. Manoly Baquerizo headed in from Cristina Postigo’s deep cross to score her second league goal of the season. The result represented Granada’s third consecutive victory without conceding.
Eibar have lost each of their last nine matches since beating Alhama 1-0 in January. Fortunately for the Basque side, they remain eight points clear of the drop as Alhama and Levante continue to find points hard to come by.
Banini’s effort pips Pizarro’s effort for the quality of the assist and finish. Uribe’s superb backheel was followed by a strike of the highest order, making it the standout goal of the weekend.

Deportivo La Coruña 2-1 Eibar
