Ligue 2 clubs ‘to explore’ move for Rony Lopes amid limited Tondela role | OneFootball

Rony Lopes, the former Benfica prospect who also spent time with Manchester City and Monaco, is attracting interest from France’s second tier as his minutes at Tondela remain scarce and could leave at the end of the January window.

According to Foot Mercato, Nancy, Bastia and Pau are tracking the 30-year-old’s situation and assessing a move to bring him to France before the window closes.

Lopes came through the academies at Benfica and Manchester City, later featuring for Monaco, Lille, Sevilla, Olympiacos and Braga, before joining Tondela in the summer of 2025. Tondela are 17th in the Primeira Liga.

He has previously said he would like to return to Benfica one day, citing the club’s part in his development.

In 2025/26 he has made eight appearances for Tondela, scoring once and providing two assists in 454 minutes. He is valued at 1.2 million euros.
