A Lille executive was assaulted by a Lens supporter on Saturday night after the 3-0 Lille-Lens derby.
As reported by La Voix du Nord, it happened about an hour after full time near Stade Pierre-Mauroy when the official tried to separate two men who were fighting.
Although official Lens supporter attire had been banned by a prefectural order, one of the men, a drunk RC Lens fan, asked what the executive’s accreditation was. The Lille official was with his wife.
On learning he worked for Lille, the supporter waited by the car park near the executive’s car. He then twisted the executive’s arm and delivered a heavy headbutt to his nose.
Police intervened quickly to detain the suspect, while firefighters assisted the victim before he was taken to A&E, where he spent part of the night. Club staff were shocked, and the hierarchy have offered support to the senior figure, who still bears physical marks.
LOSC and the executive have filed a complaint against the individual, who admitted the facts.
