Linday strike lifts Heerenveen into seventh

Heerenveen beat Fortuna Sittard 2-1 at Abe Lenstra Stadion on Saturday, climbing from eighth to seventh in the Eredivisie as Marcus Linday's winner in the second half settled a lively contest.
In the 12th minute Philip Brittijn put Fortuna Sittard ahead from outside the box after Dimitris Limnios' pass. Ringo Meerveld levelled (16.) from Jacob Trenskow's pass.
Maxence Rivera went off injured before the break, with Luca Oyen coming on (43.).
After the restart Kaj Sierhuis struck the right post (57.), while Bernt Klaverboer made six saves to keep Heerenveen in the game.
Linday then swept in the decisive strike (74.) from Joris Overeem's assist.
Ivo Pinto was sent off with a straight red (90.) as Fortuna Sittard chased a late response.
Heerenveen controlled 58.6% possession and recorded 15 attempts, with five on target. Fortuna Sittard tallied 16 attempts and did not win a corner.
Next, Heerenveen visit Volendam. Fortuna Sittard host Feyenoord.
