Hilton Hotels send of Lionesses to Euro 2025 with monumental towel display
The England squad has officially left St. George’s Park and is heading to Switzerland, but not before the team was sent off to Euro 2025 with a huge display of towels from Hilton Hotels.
Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses have been based at St. George’s Park for the past month as they prepare for Euro 2025 and the training ground has also doubled as a second home for the team during that time.
With England kicking off their Euro 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon in a Group D clash against France, it is time for the team to head off to Switzerland. The Lionesses will set up base camp in Zurich for the duration of their tournament.
When they left St. George’s Park on Monday morning, the Lionesses were met with a touching display from hotel staff to send them off to the championship.
Staff from the on-site Hilton Hotel dedicated 36 hours to a towel display which resembled a huge lion’s face on the lawn outside.
The lion was created with over 10,000 towels and the 29 metre high, 41 metre wide piece was shown to all of the squad as they departed the grounds.
Ella Toone, who scored a brace in England’s final preparation game vs. Jamaica, said: “I couldn’t think of a better send off! We spend so much time away from home, but Hilton is where we find calm, comfort, and a bit of normality.
“It’s the small things that make all the difference – a friendly face, even a perfectly fluffed pillow. The team takes care of us so we can focus on what we do best!”
The hotel group also released a good luck video directed at the England team, with some famous faces featuring in the post.
The Lionesses come into Euro 2025 as one of the outright favourites to win the tournament, but they face an extremely tough group stage with Wales, Netherlands and France all in Group D.
The best UK football betting sites have priced England as 4/1 second favourites to win the Euros behind only Spain who are 2/1.
For those looking to take an alternate betting angle on the Lionesses this summer, England are 1/1 to top Group D.
