Sarina Wiegman has named her 23-player squad for the next round of England’s FIFA World Cup 2027 qualifiers taking place in April.
The Lionesses face World Champions Spain at Wembley in a rematch of last summer’s Euro 2025 final, before travelling to Reykjavik to face Iceland again.
There is one new name as midfielder Erica Meg Parkinson, who plays for Portuguese first division side Valadares Gaia, earns her first call-up to the seniors after featuring across the England pathway.
Beth Mead returns having missed the previous camp through injury, while Aggie Beever-Jones, Grace Clinton and Ella Toone miss out due to injury.
England kicked off their World Cup qualifying campaign in March, beating Ukraine 6-1 in Antalya, Turkey and backing that up with a 2-0 victory over Iceland in Nottingham.
The Lionesses currently sit top of their qualifying group, ahead of Spain only goal difference (2 goals). With automatic qualification only available for the team finishing first, this clash against Spain at Wembley, their first meeting since the Euro 2025 final, will be a crucial part of the campaign for the European Champions.
This April window also marks a significant chapter in Lionesses’ history – the match against Spain at Wembley on Tuesday 14 April will be England’s 499th match and they will celebrate their 500th against Iceland on Saturday 18 April.
Wiegman said: “Last month we started our campaign strongly with two good performances against Ukraine and Iceland, and we want to continue that momentum. These upcoming matches against Spain and Iceland are important steps in our qualification journey, and we’re fully focused on performing at our highest level.
“This international window is very special for our team. Marking the 500th game in the Lionesses’ history is something we are all incredibly proud of, and it connects us to every player who has helped build this team over so many years.
“Facing Spain at Wembley in front of our fans will be a fantastic challenge, and travelling to Iceland for such a historic occasion will motivate us even more to be at our best too.”
The Lionesses’ qualifying campaign will conclude in June, facing Spain in Mallorca and Ukraine at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium.
