In a recent post on X, RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins revealed that Liverpool are pushing to land Paris Saint-Germain talent Ibrahim Mbaye this summer. It has been mentioned that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the Senegalese wide player to Merseyside this off-season.

Mbaye’s Impressive Rise In French Football

Mbaye came through the youth ranks of PSG and did well to break into their first team last season. The Senegalese talent found the back of the net three times and secured a couple of assists in 24 league matches for the French outfit in the previous campaign across all fronts.

The 18-year-old is currently one of the most gifted young wingers in Ligue 1. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Reds have set their sights on signing him in this transfer period.

His current contract with Paris Saint-Germain will expire in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Liverpool to land him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Liverpool Are Pushing To Land Mbaye: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Mbaye can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has the vision to create the odd chance for his teammates to score.

The Senegalese sensation has already added some goals and assists to his game. Mbaye is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also operate as a left-winger if told to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical demands and high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to get a deal done for him this summer.

We can expect Mbaye to bring more quality and depth to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s frontline in the long run. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Anfield next season. Furthermore, the Senegalese whizkid would serve as an ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah at the Merseyside club.

At 18, Mbaye has the potential to be a world-class winger someday. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so Liverpool would be wise to step up their efforts to sign him this summer.
