In the Premier League this Wednesday, Liverpool took on Sunderland (1-1). The Reds' manager, Arne Slot, once again left winger Mohamed Salah out of his starting eleven. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Dutch coach took the time to justify his decision.

"It's a balance between continuity and freshness. Every player has a chance to come in, and Mo is certainly among them. It's great to have players like Mo available on the bench. (...) He's reacted just as we hoped—he's a top professional. He trains very well and remains positive with his teammates. He's a role model when he plays, and now he's also a role model in how to behave when not playing," Slot explained.

Coming on at the 45th minute, Salah was unable to make a decisive impact.
