Liverpool’s transfer focus is currently on Florian Wirtz. The club are locked in negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over the Germany playmaker.
Leverkusen are seeking £126m for Wirtz, but Liverpool’s efforts are currently some way short of that total. Recent reports suggest the Reds are willing to pay £100m up front and another £13m for the No10 in add-ons, and the fee remains a sticking point.

After that, sporting director Richard Hughes will seek to tie up a deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. Once Wirtz and Kerkez are safely on board, Liverpool could well move for other targets.
The club want a No9 and given the number of alterations expected on the wings we could see a wide man arrive in time. Luis Diaz, Ben Doak and Federico Chiesa could all LEAVE in the summer window, opening a gap for a winger to arrive.
And according to the latest reports, one long-term Liverpool target is about to have his asking price slashed.
Takefusa Kubo has been on the Reds’ radar over several windows. Indeed last summer it was reported that the club were preparing to trigger the forward’s €60m Real Sociedad release clause.
No deal came to fruition, however, with the 24-year-old and his club going on to have an indifferent season. Imanol Alguacil left his position as head coach, sparking reports that Kubo was among the players to hand in a transfer request.
Then it was suggested that the Japan international was of interest to both Liverpool and Arsenal but neither side were prepared to meet his €60m asking price.
But now Florian Plettenberg is reporting that Kubo could be available for an OUTRAGEOUS discount in the summer market - and that could bring Liverpool back to the table.
“Takefusa Kubo is one to watch in the summer transfer window, as he’s currently leaning towards a move to the Premier League,” the German transfer reporter stated on X.
“The 24y/o winger has already received multiple enquiries. Price valuation: €30-40m. He remains under contract at Real Sociedad until 2029. 7G/4A.”
A price of €60m was too rich for Richard Hughes but if Kubo can be acquired for half that, then it would represent strong business.
The left-footed right-winger only scored five goals in LaLiga last season but has very good underlying numbers on FOTMOB for chances created, successful dribbles and touches in the opposition box.
He is also a willing worker off the ball, earning high marks in the duels won, interceptions, recoveries and possessions won in the final third categories.
Kubo is also among the most-fouled players in the Spanish top flight - winning 73 fouls across the season.
