Liverpool have been in top form this season, but they had the weekend off. That means they’ll head into their first-leg matchup against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes either well-rested or possibly a bit rusty.

Before turning their full attention to the Champions League, Liverpool played one more Premier League match midweek. They defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at Anfield on Wednesday night, carrying some positive momentum into Paris.

PSG, meanwhile, are also coming off an impressive performance, beating LOSC Lille 4-1 with all four goals coming in the first half.

What type of PSG squad should Liverpool expect in the first leg?

RMC Sport’s Daniel Riolo used “violent” when describing the PSG squad in their recent form under manager Luis Enrique.

“This team is even more violent than the one under Laurent Blanc back in the day,” Riolo said (h/t Kick Football). “It feels like they’re never tired. They are always capable of putting in a ton of effort, and it’s constant collective effort. Something has changed since [the match against] City. It’s impressive.”

With the win over Lille, PSG have now gone 22 matches unbeaten across all competitions. This streak highlights the team’s strong collective performance and rise to the top of Europe. The big test is ahead on Wednesday for a crucial showdown against Liverpool.
