Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is considering a £40million raid on former club Bournemouth for midfielder Alex Scott.
Iraola was appointed as Liverpool manager this week on an initial two-year contract, with recruitment discussions having already taken place.
Scott has been identified as an option to add to the club's midfield group, following an impressive period under Iraola at Bournemouth.
According toreports, Liverpool are weighing up a £40m offer for Scott, though Bournemouth value the 22-year-old at around £60m.
Scott is currently in Miami with the England squad ahead of this summer'sWorld Cup, despite not being included in the tournament squad. He is set to make his senior debut for the Three Lions against New Zealand this evening.
Scott would add to the Liverpool midfield, amid doubts surrounding Curtis Jones's future. The midfielder has 12 months to run on his deal at Anfield and has been subject of interest from Inter Milan.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the Bournemouth midfielder. Scott supported Tottenham as a child.
Earlier this week, Scott told the Liverpool supporters to 'get excited' about Iraola's Anfield appointment.
"What can Liverpool expect from Iraola? He is obviously a great manager,"Scott said.
"You see what we have done as a club at Bournemouth and how we have progressed over the three seasons he was with us.
"I think the way we press out of possession is very aggressive, maybe similar to the early Klopp teams Liverpool had, that fierce aggressiveness and pressing with the wingers.
"I would say he is similar to that. Liverpool fans should definitely be so excited. He has done a lot for me personally."
Alongside Scott, Liverpool are also tracking RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. The Reds have made initial contact with the Bundesliga side, in a bid to beat Paris Saint-Germain to the teenager. However, Leipzig value the Ivorian at £100m after a breakout Bundesliga season.
