FSG linked with Celtics

FSG are to be presented with the chance to unite Liverpool with one of the biggest teams in American sport. Will they take it?

The Boston Celtics are up for sale and it's a move that could rock the sporting world. Boston Basketball Partners LLC, the majority owners, publicly announced their intention to sell earlier this year.

That's despite the Celtics winning the NBA Championship earlier this year - their first in 16 years. But now's the time to sell, clearly, with the Boston Herald reporting that BBP will reach out to 'qualified buyers'.

The only guaranteed offer will come from Steve Pagliuca, who is already a co-owner of the Celtics. Pagliuca also co-owns Atalanta, where he's the co-chairman. The business has made it public that he will attempt to buy further influence in the Celtics.

But there are more names in the frame. One particularly interesting one is Fenway Sports Group. They own Liverpool, of course, but also the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball.

That one's also a very hot one in the NBA as LeBron James owns shares in FSG and plays for the Celtic's arch-rival Los Angeles Lakers. There are enormous implications there, should FSG end up owning any percentage of the Boston franchise.

On-loan Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has been fined by RB Salzburg. His teammates are thrilled with it.

Salzburg24 reports that Stefan Bajcetic has been fined by RB Salzburg. The problem? He couldn't find his boots on Monday and ended up late for training.

That's an automatic fine, albeit a relatively small one for a UEFA Champions League player. The mistake costs Bajcetic €500 - due before the next game.

The report makes it clear that Pep Lijnders enforced the fine with a smile on his face. It's about keeping players consistent and disciplined, after all - not actually punishing them for small mistakes.

But one group that's thrilled with the fine is Bajcetic's teammates. All the fines go into a pot, after all, that's then used to pay for a group trip. The Spaniard's error goes towards them all getting a nice getaway.

Lijnders continues to struggle

RB Salzburg suffered yet another loss in the European competition tonight, losing 4-0 at home to French side and competition debutants Stade Brestois (Brest).

This follows a dreadful performance against Sparta Praha in week one, meaning Lijnders' men haven’t scored yet in the competition and have conceded seven times in two games.

Lijnders also employed two former Reds youngsters in the form of Stefan Bajcetic on loan and Bobby Clark on a permanent deal, but they have not managed to make an impact yet either.

In terms of league form, they sit 3rd in the Austrian Bundesliga having had a fairly good start winning four of their first six league games.

However, Pep will have high expectations for his squad and the team seem to drastically underperform on the big European stages.

Robertson speaks out

The debate surrounding the amount of football players are asked to play has been dragged kicking and screaming back into the limelight recently.

With the ACL injury to Manchester City star Rodri coming merely days after he floated the idea of players going on strike to protest the ever-increasing demand for football, the problem was laid bare for all to see.

And with Liverpool on a run of seven games in three weeks between the two international breaks the situation affects them as much as most.

Speaking after the Wolves game in the Premier League at the weekend, star left-back Andy Robertson concurred with the opinion that it is getting too much for players.

Alisson on Klopp for Slot

Speaking to former England goalkeeper Joe Hart for the BBC's Football Daily podcast, Alisson admitted that Liverpool were lacking something in their final season under Klopp, which ultimately landed only the least-coveted trophy - the Carabao Cup - of the four on offer.

"We were good before and we were great sometimes, but we got to a point that we needed to have this extra push," said Alisson, who went on to explain how the squad is benefiting from the new boss.

"I'm finding Arne fantastic because we see that he wants to improve the players and by doing that, he's improving the team. So he's trying to take the best out of everyone, every individual and making us better."
